Located in Lorain Ohio, this is a two-story eclectic mansion of masonry construction built in 1909. Generically the design belongs to the Georgian Revival, but it incorporates elements from the English Baroque style. The north facade is rigorously symmetrical. At the center there is a slightly projecting rectangular frontispiece.
This bay and also the corners of the house have stone quoins. On the second story there is a vaguely Palladian window with a semi-elliptical head. The flanking rectangular windows have transoms and are framed by dropping architraves. The roof is a steep hip of tile. A central dormer has a curved Baroque pediment, and two smaller dormers are arched in shape. This elegant home was built in 1909 by William Seher. He was a wealthy Lorain businessman. No expense was spared. He even had a central vacuum system installed in the house! The woodworking and floors are gorgeous. The tile work is meticulous. Each piece of door hardware is a work of art. The murals on the walls are breathtaking. The fireplaces are stunning to look at. Many of the windows are beveled leaded glass.
